June Long Weekend Escape to the Country in the Yass Valley

There is something especially beautiful about the Yass Valley in winter.

The vines settle into their slower season, fireplaces begin glowing again and the region becomes the perfect place to escape the city for a relaxed country weekend of wine, artisan food, chocolate and cosy moments shared with family and friends.

Just a short drive from Canberra, the June Long Weekend from 6–8 June is the ideal opportunity to slow down and explore the villages, cellar doors and makers of the Canberra wine region.

Here is our guide to a delicious winter weekend in Murrumbateman and the Yass Valley.

Warm up with artisan chocolate in Murrumbateman

Our rural chocolate studio will be open across the June Long Weekend, with artisan chocolate, gifts and seasonal treats available in-store, alongside our hands-on chocolate workshops and tasting experiences.

There is something wonderfully comforting about making chocolate in winter. Our workshops invite guests to create their own chocolate bars while enjoying the atmosphere of our working chocolate studio.
